It was learned from Yongxing Forestry Bureau that 7 wild Chinese Cypress were discovered during national rescue survey of minimal species of wild plant. The oldest one of the 7 wild Chinese Cypress was about 260 years, while youngest was 60 years. 5 of them were more than 100 years old.
According to the record, Chinese Cypress was a special monotypic genus plant in China and also a world relic plant. It was listed in the state class one protected plant species. Now there are less than 1000 Chinese Cypress available in China. 8 of them are in Chenzhou city.
In order to handle better protection of this minimal species, a working plan was figured out by the county. Some detailed work as taking wild survey, hanging numbers of the plant, signing protection contract with the owner of forest, establishing protection record, preparing protection facilities, etc. were arranged by the county. According to the plan, further scientific protection work would be handled out in near future.
