It was reported that the observation tour for 2016 Chenzhou city’s citrus psylla control by helicopter was held in Yizhang county. In the morning, the pesticides were evenly sprayed on the fruit trees planted in the 10,000mu navel orange demonstration park by an agricultural helicopter in a short time. Professor Deng Ziniu who is from Hunan Agriculture University and some leaders and staffs who are in charge of the plants protection in Agricultural Commission of Chenzhou City visited virus-free nursery garden and citrus psylla observation room.
Citrusyellowshoot which is called as “cancer of citrus” is a devastating disease for the world’s production of citrus. The key sources of the disease are mycoplasma like organism, phylloxera, and some other transmissible pests (citrus aphid). In recent years, this disease tends to be more serious in Chenzhou city. In order to prevent the expansion of the disease and ensure the safety of citrus production, Agricultural Commission of Chenzhou City required that all the counties and districts should follow the general idea of plant protection “prevention first, comprehensive treatment” to carry out different controlling measures and try to limit the cardinal number of phylloxera in a low level and limit the morbidity rate of citrusyellowshoot under 3%.
“Citrusyellowshoot is controllable as long as the planters aim to control it” -stated by Professor Deng Ziniu on the control forum. He also taught the planters how to recognize the plant infected by citrusyellowshoot, what the harms are, and how to control it. Deng said that currently all the plants in the park were under sound condition. Yizhang County Party Committee and Yizhang Government set up special funds for the control of citrusyellowshoot on learning the report of citrusyellowshoot affection in December, 2014, which helped to control the disease effectively. Deng Ziniu suggested relative departments handling the guidance and training beforehand to educate the fruit farmers with proper measures of preventing the disease. On the process of spraying insecticides, all fruit farmers should work together to control it jointly.
