No notice, no fixed time schedule, just visiting the grassroots directly. On October 7, 2016, Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City led an investigation team to check the environmental protection work, water safety work, and etc. handled out on Dongjiang Lake Landscape.

Qu Hai and his team visited Dongjiang Lake Dam and checked the shipping and tourism development on water environment. On the dock, Qu Hai checked the water quality carefully. On seeing the fishes swimming freely in the clear lake, Qu Hai highly appreciated the great efforts tried by relative departments in recent years. As Qu said, the water quality can be competitive with Lake Baikal. But all work should be persisted without any relax, otherwise the water pollution would be rebounded soon.

Qu Hai stepped into some ships parked on the dock and checked the safety facilities carefully as well. On learning that there are only two small emergency hammers installed near the window, Qu Hai asked principals of the landscape to assort complete set of safety devices on the basis of specified requirements. In the meantime, the propaganda of safety knowledge should be improved to make all visitors acknowledged with the emergency information.

Qu Hai said Dongjiang Lake is national 5A landscape as well as the key drinking water source of Chenzhou City and strategic water source of Hunan Province. On this point, sound protection of Dongjiang Lake is a legal obligation, political task, and strategic project for Chenzhou City. All departments should pay closer attention on environmental protection and control the pollution from the very first beginning; should improve the revolution pilot of eco-red system and propaganda of environmental protection; should follow the strict environmental protection standards to handle the administration of catering industry; should improve the sanitary condition of the landscape; and should handle strict control of illegal buildings in the landscape.

Qu Hai highly affirmed the achievements gained by Dongjiang Lake on water safety in this year, but all departments can’t take any relax on it. He said better propaganda work should be enhanced, such as playing safety knowledge on ships; stricter responsibility mechanism should be well implemented; more trainings should be granted to the captains and drivers and stricter management should be carried out to the enterprises and ships; the emergency management capacity should be upgraded by handling better emergency rehearsals; and the environmental protection should be combined together with tourism safety to improve the sustainable development of tourism industry.
