Two Villages from Yizhang County Drafted into Chinese Traditional Villages Directory

It was learned from some departments that Qishi Village and Qianjia’an Village from Yizhang County were drafted into 4th batch of Chinese Traditional Villages Directory. 166 villages from Hunan Province were planned to be enrolled into the list this time.

 

Yizhang County took active actions on submitting the applications from the beginning of the selection of Chinese traditional villages from 2012. Layuan Village was enrolled into the 3rd batch directory in 2014 and obtained with 2015 central financial support. The successful enrollment of these three villages would play positive roles on improving the development of traditional cultural industry, tourism industry, and “New Yizhang County”.

 

Qishi Village

It was established in Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty. There are about 200 dwellings of Ming and Qing styles well reserved in the village. Peng’s Ancestral Hall, Yugong Ancestral Hall, and Chengqi Academy were listed as national historical reservation sites. Money-slide Lion Dance is Chenzhou municipal level intangible cultural heritage. It is a famous red revolutionary village as well.


Qianjia’an Village

It was established in Wanli Period of Ming Dynasty. This 600-year old village is full of remarkable traditional Ming and Qing style dwellings. 80 of the ancient dwellings are well reserved there. In 2008, it was rewarded with the tile of “Hunan Provincial Ecological Demonstration Village”. In April 2015, it was honored with the title of “Hunan Provincial Traditional Village”.
