Recently, Yang Weigang, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, led an investigation group to conduct a survey on the review of the "Bill on Revising the Regulations on Water Environmental Protection of Dongjiang Lake in Hunan Province" and the revision of the "Regulations on Water Environmental Protection of Dongjiang Lake in Hunan Province". Zhang Aiguo, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, participated in the activities.

Since the promulgation and implementation of the "Regulations on Water Environment Protection of Dongjiang Lake in Hunan Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations"), the municipal committee, the municipal government and the Party committees and the governments of the counties and cities in the region have taken many measures to comprehensively control the water quality of Dongjiang Lake, ensuring that the overall water quality of Dongjiang Lake has remained good for a long time, and that the quality of the outgoing lake is stable in the surface water quality standard.

Yang Weigang fully affirmed the achievements of water environmental protection of Dongjiang Lake in our city since the implementation of the Regulations. He stressed that we should thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's thought of ecological civilization, adhere to the priority of protection, further strengthen the water environmental protection in the Dongjiang Lake Basin, and effectively protect the green water of a lake.

Yang Weigang pointed out that the revision of the Regulations should be based on the relevant superordinate law and the current actual situation. We should further clarify the situation, clear the criteria, strengthen research and fully demonstrate, and scientifically delimit the protected areas at all levels of the river basin to promote the revision work of the Regulation; should give prominence to problem orientation, take various measures simultaneously and take comprehensive measures to do a good job in ecological compensation, resettlement of migrants and assistance to the impoverished masses in the reservoir area; should focus on solving the development problems in the production and life of the masses in the lake area, and encourage and guide the transformation and green development of the masses in the basin to promote the harmonious development of the ecological protection of Dongjiang Lake Basin and the economy and society.

Zhang Aiguo said that he would earnestly implement the recommendations and requirements of the investigation group, implement the Regulations as before, strictly protect the water environment of Dongjiang Lake and promote the continuous optimization of the ecological environment quality of the basin.
