In Gangjiao Village, Xifengdu Town, Suxian District, more than 70 ancient dwellings are beautiful reflected by the water of the Xihe River. Recently, many foreign tourists or neighboring citizens are attracted by the scenery here, and come here for summer holiday.

It was understood that most of these ancient dwellings were built in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty, which are characterized the ancient Hui-style dwellings, such as square, high horsehead walls and stretching eaves. In recent years, in order to better protect and inherit the history and culture, Suxian District has elaborately built the Gangjiao Wetland Park Landscape Project of Xihe Comprehensive Control Project (Suxian Section) and the ancient dwelling houses, becoming a successful practice of combining the aquatic ecological construction with the cultural tourism industry in depth.

Since the construction of "model rivers and lakes" in Suxian District, Suxian District has selected a group of rivers and lakes with high public concern and strong representation, persisted in taking "smooth rivers, clear water, green banks and beautiful scenery" as the goal, and focused on the integration of local historical and cultural heritage, striving to create a number of "model rivers and lakes" with Suxian characteristics by strengthening water resources protection, water pollution prevention and control, water environment management and a series of measures.

As a “model river and lake” at the district level, Xihe River has received special attention and support from the district. By the end of July, departments at all levels in Suxian District had invested more than 20 million yuan in improving the water environment quality of Xihe River, implementing integrated river management of 8.5 kilometers, and replanting more than 7,000 tree species such as Maple and Acer sylvestris along the wetland. One black and odorous water body in Fengdu Town Section along the river was renovated. At present, eight of the 15 "model rivers and lakes" have been completed, and the construction of other "model rivers and lakes" is progressing in an orderly manner. It was expected that the relevant departments will be organized for joint acceptance by the end of the year.
