2021-05-12

On May 8, Hunan Provincial Civilization Office released the list of Good People of Hunan in April, in which 20 persons were selected out. Two people from Chenzhou were on the list. One is Luo Shuwen, who was chosen for his kindness, and the other is Huang Ping, who was selected out for his brave deeds.

Luo Shuwen, 81 years old, is a group leader of Nanjie Community, Nanta Subdistrict, Suxian District as well as a retired worker from Guangxi Nuclear Industry Geological Bureau. After his retirement in 1986, he bought a broom and a shovel and started to sweep in the community every day. Up to now, he has kept doing this for more than 30 years, which deeply moves the residents around. Luo was nominated for a moral model of Chenzhou in 2013.

Huang Ping, born in November 1973 in Linwu, is now in charge of Haiyang Outdoor Volunteer Team. In September 2019, he helped residents recover the stolen property worth more than 100,000 yuan by catching a habitual thief who carried weapons. While fighting with the thief, he was badly injured. Moreover, Huang is enthusiastic in public activities for people’s benefits. He established Haiyang Outdoor Volunteer Team and carried out various activities, raising nearly 1.5 million yuan. Huang was awarded “Advanced Individual of Linwu” and “Advanced Individual of Chenzhou” in 2019 and “Good People of Chenzhou” in 2020.
