Recently, the forest musk deer, a globally endangered species and a national first-level protected wild animal, was found in the Mangshan National Nature Reserve in Yizhang County, Chenzhou City.

The forest musk deer is a musk-secreting animal mainly distributed in the mountainous areas of northwest and southwest China, but is now extinct in many of its original distribution areas.

This discovered forest musk deer is an excellent proof of the rich biodiversity and great wildlife habitat of Mangshan Mountain, showing the good results of wildlife conservation in Chenzhou City.
