In October 1934, when the Red Army passed through Shazhou Village in the long march, three female soldiers lodged at Xu Jiexiu's home. When they found Xu did not have a quilt to protect her from cold, they cut off half of their quilt and left it for Xu before leaving. What is a Communist Party member like? He is the man who will cut half of the quilt for the people even if he has only one, said the old lady. This is the story of Half Quilt.

Famous director Huang Dingshan, screenwriter Ren Weixin and composer Du Ming are invited to work for this opera as well as national first-class conductor Wang Yan. Meanwhile, some well-known tenors like Wang Hongwei and Yang Xiaoyong, and famous sopranos such as Liu Yizhen and Zhang Zhuo star in this opera.

Half Quilt has been rated as one of the 7 key operas in the project of Chinese national opera inheritance and one of the 100 excellent stage art works in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.
