The sizzling summer is a hard time for many outdoor workers. Given that, Yizhang County has set up 15 service stations to help them beat the summer heat.

Under the scorching sun, many outdoor workers are still busy working. However, a service station in Zhongxia Park, Yizhang County shows a different picture where batches of outdoor workers like sanitation workers, electricians and delivery men come to take a break —doing things like chatting, drinking tea, charging phones and reading newspapers. Such a pleasing life was a luxury in the past when outdoor workers did not have easier access to water, meal and resting places. Now, service stations make all these a reality.

The service stations are equipped with air conditioners, microwave ovens, charging points, water fountains, books and newspapers for the convenience of outdoor workers like sanitation men, builders, delivery men, maintainers, traffic policemen and urban management officers.

Following the principle of “doing practical things for the masses”, the Yizhang County Federation of Trade Unions has set up 15 service stations for outdoor workers in the urban area. The service stations are distributed in the squares, bus stations and construction sites, etc, benefiting front-line workers as convenient “staging posts”.
