In recent years, Tangxi Town has adopted the“Branch Farm” development mode, and grown organic, pollution-free and standardized agricultural products according to local conditions, including green tea, yellow peaches and mountain vegetables, thus forming four characteristic industries of tea, yellow peach, fresh ginger and Phyllostachys Pubescens. Pingzi Village is the cradle of the development mode “Branch Farm” of Zixing city.

 

Driven by the “Branch Farm” mode, Wu Chunyue’s family of four planted yellow peaches and tea. They participated in the “babysitter style” technical training of “one household, one worker” and mastered the technology of planting fruit and tea. 

 

With quality and good-looking peaches, Wu Chunyue made 360,000 yuan per hectare for yellow peach and 150,000 yuan per hectare for tea last year. He said cheerfully, “with ‘branch farm’ helping us sell products, we just need to take good care of the crops. The annual income of my family reaches over 130,000 yuan a year, and we spent more than 300,000 yuan building a new house of 280 square meters”.

 

In order to expand and strengthen the tea industry, the town government encourages and supports the enterprises (cooperatives) to adopt the industrial development mode of “Branch + Enterprises (Cooperative) + Base + Farmer”.

 

Tangbian Village follows the operation mode of “Branch + Cooperative + Base + Farmers”, and the cooperatives follow the business pattern of “Five Unified” featuring unified fertilization, tea-picking, purchase, processing and price to ensure farmers increase production and income.

 

With increased income, villagers in Tangxi Town invest money to improve living conditions and build beautiful new villages. Tangbian Village has raised 4 million yuan from various sources to build a two-kilometer Tangxi Scenic Belt and restore the scenic spots in Gounao Mountain, so as to attract tourists for sightseeing.

 

Gone are the days when people lived in adobe houses. The villagers now build new houses on demolished old ones with unified planning. The new western-style buildings dot lush mountains and lucid rivers, cement roads extend to the doors of houses and street lamps light up the beautiful village.

 

Tangxi Town is now hailed as the “National Demonstration Town for One Village One Product”, “Great Town of Agricultural Industry in Hunan Province” and “Ecological Civilized Town in Hunan Province”.
