Rice straw turned into fertilizer

Recently, two harvesters were seen shuttle back and forth in the paddy field base of Ruifeng Agricultural Machinery Specialized Cooperative in Siwan Village of Linwu County, Chenzhou City. While reaping the rice, the machines also evenly scattered the smashed straws to the field, which were used as natural fertilizers. 

 

In recent years, Linwu County has proactively carried out straw burning bans and comprehensive utilization of crop stalks and vigorously promoted a new circular agriculture model for sustainable development, advancing the high-quality and green development of modern agriculture with multiple measures.
 
During this period, in order to effectively ban straw burning, Linwu County has redoubled efforts to publicize the significance of the comprehensive utilization of crop stalks and the hazards of straw burning, and then guided farmers to transform ideas with practices, recycling crop stalks and turning waste into.useful materials.
 
According to statistics, the early season rice covers an area of 75,200 mu (about 5,013 hectares) in Linwu County. The comprehensive utilization rate of crop stalks which are returned to fields in the county has reached more than 90 percent. This has not only improved the ecological environment, but also advanced the high-quality and green development of modern agriculture.
