Hunan sees e-commerce growth during past decade

On August 26, the 9th Hunan E-Commerce Conference opened in Yiyang. Li Xinqiu, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, said that Hunan's e-commerce transaction volume has been growing at an average annual rate of 45.7% since 2012, and the province's online retail sales of physical goods reached 175.5 billion yuan in 2021.

 
In the past ten years, Hunan has achieved outstanding results in rural e-commerce development. A total of 79 national comprehensive demonstration counties for promoting e-commerce in rural areas have been approved. In 2021, 30.8-billion-yuan agricultural products were sold via e-commerce platforms in Hunan Province.
 
The conference aims to discuss the new prospects of e-commerce development and explore the "new key" to e-commerce boom. The Hunan E-Commerce Conference has been successfully held for eight sessions since 2012, with more than 2,000 participants in each session. It is a big event in the application fields of e-commerce industry in Hunan.
 
With the theme of "Leading New Business Forms in E-commerce and Activating the Circulation of New Increments", the conference was hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Yiyang Municipal People's Government. A variety of activities were arranged, including e-commerce innovation and development forum, rural revitalization and county industry digitalization forum, livestreaming e-commerce forum, private domain e-commerce forum, and special agricultural  products display and livestreaming marketing. The new business forms and models helped promote new consumption and boost new development.
 
During the conference, traditional e-commerce and livestreaming e-commerce platforms such as JD.com, Meituan, Douyin, Kuaishou, newly-emerged private domain e-commerce companies such as Xingsheng Youxuan, and e-commerce service providers such as Ebrun, Huawei Cloud, and Nongte Group made suggestions for promoting the high-quality development of e-commerce in Hunan. They shared practical experience, discussed about the new situation of digital trade development and the exploration of new growth areas, so as to further align e-commerce with rural revitalization and open development.
