In order to experience the fun of grape picking, many tourists came to the vineyards of the Grape Planting Specialized Cooperative in Lanwangmiao Village of Xujiadong Township, Chenzhou City.
Xujiadong is a famous grape planting base where the grapes are sweet and plump, winning wide popularity among consumers. With developed transportation network, logistics service and the “Internet + modern service sector” model, farmers can start businesses in their hometown.
The industrial chain of grape planting has taken shape and the planting technology has been shared with the grape bases in six nearby villages, including Zhuzitang Village and Qingquan Village, boosting the transformation and upgrading of grape industry.
Currently, the grapes of Xujiadong Township cover an area of more than 6,000 mu (400 hectares) with an annual output value of more than 60 million yuan.
Xujiadong Township is blessed with favorable natural conditions, but how to convert ecological resources into economic advantages? Xiao Junyun is a veteran who returned to Lanwangmiao Village to start a business.
At first, he tried to grow grapes of various breeds, such as Shine-Muscat Grape, Kyoho Grape and Summer Black Grape, but he can only sell them nearby because of the inconvenient transportation and logistics.
Today, Xiao Junyun plants 130 mu (about 8.7 hectares) of the Shine-Muscat Grape. By improving planting technology through “technology + internet”, harnessing the advantages of the “expressway + e-commerce” and optimizing marketing channels, he ushers in a new chapter for his grape planting.
Now Xiao Junyun serves as the head of the Grape Planting Specialized Cooperative in Lanwangmiao Village. With an annual income of more than 2 million yuan, he is well-known for leading the villagers to become rich.
To better develop the grape industry, various factors such as the breeds, brands and technologies are indispensable, and transportation is a crucial part in the process of production, supply and marketing. In the early stage, the market for Xujiadong’s grapes was only limited within the city and nearby areas, but later this self-sufficient production pattern was changed thanks to the expressways.
The developed expressway networks in Chenzhou have attracted production factors like advanced technologies and circulating funds to be concentrated in Xujiadong Township, contributing to a large-scale industrial chain.
The local fruit growers, fruit merchants and tourists gather at the connecting line of Chenzhou North Toll Station. In the grape base, the live-streamers are busy promoting grapes and framers are sorting and packing boxes of grapes, which are loaded into trucks for delivery.
In the harvest season, vehicles for fruits transportation increase remarkably. Now is the peak season for fruits transportation, and the number of vehicles transporting fruits exceed 30 per day, according to Guo Lei who is in charge of the Chenzhou North Toll Station.
The villagers are satisfied with the bumper grape harvest, convenient expressways and good market. The Chenzhou section of the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong- Macao Expressway has become an important route for transporting grapes in summer and Bingtang orange in winter, playing an important role in promoting local economy and realizing rural revitalization.
In July this year, Hunan Expressway Group launched an expressway expansion project, which will make Chenzhou open wider to the southern China and help Chenzhou become an important growth pole for Hunan to connect with the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area.
