In 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the construction of the first batch of 52 innovative counties (cities) nationwide, with a three-year construction period. Liuyang City, Xiangyin County and Zixing City in Hunan Province were approved for construction. The total number ranked the third in China.

 

In recent years, Zixing City has focused on water resources utilization technology and developed "water economy" to strengthen and expand the green digital economy, and carried out research on cold water resources. Dongjiang Lake has become the only "six-in-one" tourism area in the province, gradually forming a tourism belt integrating sightseeing, homestay inns, experience, rural and industrial tourism.
