More than 30 villagers were busy picking, transporting and packing peppers. The red peppers increased the income of villagers and made their lives more prosperous.

A local villager who was picking peppers with her daughter, said that while taking care of the elderly and children at home, she can earn 70 to 80 yuan per day.

With high altitude and long sunshine time, Bei’an Village is very suitable for planting peppers. All peppers in the village are planted naturally, and the mature peppers have stronger flavor than others.

In 2022, the planting area of pepper reaches more than 60 mu (4 hectares), with an output of about 1.1 tons per mu. The pepper base is expected to produce 66,000 kg and a total output value of 660,000 yuan.

It’s expected to increase the collective economic income of the village by more than 100,000 yuan.

This year, the village continues to bring its local advantages into full play and develop industries according to local conditions. Peppers are a major industry of the village to develop and expand the village collective economy through the development mode of “village collective, cooperative and farmers”.

The village also signed an agreement with Hunan Yongxiangwei Food Processing Plant to smooth the sales channel, making sure that the harvested peppers can be sold out, which in turns boosts large-scale planting.

Next, the village will further expand the pepper industrial chain and establish a pepper processing plant to drive the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries through the packaging of primary processing products and improved production efficiency.
