Magnolia officinalis, a shade-intolerant plant, mainly grows in the mountain forests with an altitude of 800 meters to 1,500 meters. The natural environment of Tongxin Yao Village is more suitable for the growth of Magnolia officinalis.

The villagers here have the tradition of brewing medicinal wine and dig herbs. Therefore, since 2018, the village has guided the villagers to vigorously plant Magnolia officinalis, which can help villagers increase income, and contribute to the rural revitalization.

At present, more than 200 villagers plant Magnolia officinalis. There are also about 66.7 hectares of Chinese herbal medicines such as yellow ginger and Polygonatum odoratum. It has an industrial chain integrating planting, picking and sales of Chinese herbs, which can increase the income of each household by at least 20,000 to 30,000 yuan every year.

Next, the village will improve the quality of Magnolia officinalis products through scientific management. And on the basis of the original industrial chain, it will develop the primary processing and deep processing of Magnolia officinalis to realize the continuous improvement of product added-value, making Magnolia officinalis a “golden tree” for villagers to increase income.
