Deng Zhongxia’s Former Residence is located in Dengjiawan Village, Wuling Town, 7 kilometers northeast of Yizhang County. Built in the 6th year in the reign of Emperor Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1826), the main building is of the folk brick and wood structure of southern Hunan with black brick walls, grey tile roofs and wooden pavilions. It covers a construction area of 132.9 square meters. 

 

 

The life scenes of Deng Zhongxia and his family are restored in the four wing rooms of the former residence. The main room showcases some relics telling the life story of Deng Zhongxia.

 

 

The former residence was announced as one of the first batch of Hunan patriotism education bases in 1995. In 2013, it was selected as a key cultural relic unit under national-level protection.
