In recent years, Guiyang has vigorously promoted the ecological restoration in the mining area and adopted a market-oriented approach to carry out the task. Such enterprises as South Graphite Co., Ltd., Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Hunan Qixing Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. have been introduced to standardize the resource exploitation in the mining area, improve the efficiency of resource transformation and utilization and promote the greening of the mining area.

 

“We will sort, process and sell the waste coal gangue according to its composition and use them to produce sand and stone materials, make bricks and build roads.” Wang Shengzhuo, a manager of Hunan Qixing Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. said that a sales channel has been established for the coal gangue deep-processed products, which will be sold in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area.

 

 

Li Jianguo, a Party member of the Natural Resources Bureau of Guiyang County and the chief engineer, said that 8,000 to 10,000 tons of coal gangue can be used comprehensively every day now. More than 15 million yuan can be provided for ecological restoration projects in the mining area every year. This has brought economic, social and ecological benefits.

 

At present, over 40 million yuan has been invested in the local mining area to build a fully automatic production line for processing coal gangue, with a maximum processing capacity of 800 tons/hour of coal gangue. The treatment and utilization of more than 3.9 million tons of coal gangue in the Heye mining area has been completed and 46 hectares of cultivated land and forest land have been restored.

 

 

In addition, Guiyang County has adopted the mode of “comprehensive utilization plus engineering restoration plus photovoltaic power” according to local conditions to develop clean energy projects. The photovoltaic power generation has been organically combined with agricultural planting and animal husbandry on the restored land of Heye mining area.

 

“The photovoltaic power generation project in Heye Town covers an area of 600 mu (40 hectares), with a total investment of 140 million yuan. The annual power output can reach 20 million kilowatt hours, generating economic benefits of more than 17 million yuan. This can further save 7,544 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 18,803 tons. Meanwhile, it can increase the collective economic income of Gantang Village by 180,000 yuan every year,” said Liu Xiaowei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Heye Town.
