Hunan is rich in ecotourism resources including nature reserves, scenic spots, forest parks, geoparks, and grassland parks. The quantity and quality of botanical gardens in the province have grown steadily.

 

In 2022, forestry authorities across the province took the opportunity of the holding of tourism development conferences at all levels to carry out 19 ecotourism activities. Ecotourism scenic spots in the province hosted various themed activities. Shaoshan Scenic Area launched a large-scale live-action performance "The Most Memorable Shaoshan", representing a 3.721 million increase in tourist arrivals compared with 2020.

 

The number of ecotourism routes in Hunan is increasing. Efforts have been made to integrate ecological tourism with cultural tourism industry, coordinate scenic spot brand building and cultural landmarks, and explore red or revolutionary travel routes and study tours. A number of travel routes featuring sightseeing, red or revolutionary culture, folk culture, mountains, and adventures have been developed to integrate with surrounding industries.

 

Thanks to the cooperation with the forest health care industry, fitness and wellness tourism represented by camping, river tracing, and mountaineering is booming. Changsha launched six "ecology + cultural tourism" routes, which led to an increase of 5,683,200 tourist arrivals over the previous year.
