The second day of the second lunar month, also known as the Green Dragon Festival or the Spring Dragon Festival, is a traditional Chinese folk festival. In Guiyang County of Chenzhou City, colorful folk cultural activities like watching the dragon dance, making colorful dragons and singing nursery rhymes were held to celebrate the festival, enabling children to feel the unique charm of the folk culture.
In a kindergarten of Guiyang County, the teachers dressed in Hanfu clothing performed the dragon dance, and the children read the nursery rhymes in unison, jointly praying for good weather, a bumper harvest as well as peace and prosperity.
The origin and customs of the festival were also explained to children through pictures, videos and other forms. Led by teachers, the children made paper dragons with different shapes. They also gave simulated haircuts to their classmates. While exercising their hand-on ability, they also gained a better understanding of the traditional culture.
