Nearly 2 million eels grow in the modern fishery breeding demonstration base in Baishu Village of Zixing City.

The connection between the base and Zixing City can date back to 2021. At that time, Baishu Village reached a preliminary agreement with Fujian Wushi Eel Breeding Company to build the largest eel breeding base in Hunan Province. 60 million yuan was invested in the first phase of the project, which covers an area of 70 mu (about 4.67 hectares), and the construction began in August 2021.

At the end of 2021, the first batch of 3 million eel fry were successfully introduced. After more than a year of careful feeding, these eels have now reached market standards.

The eels in the base need to be screened by professionals from Fujian Province before shipment. After being screened, sorted, and weighed, the eels will be transported through the pipelines in the base, loaded into trucks, and transported to Fujian Province for further processing such as roasting.

Finally, these eels will be mainly sold to overseas markets such as Japan, South Korea, Europe and the United States, or sold in China, with an estimated annual output value of 100 million yuan.
