NPC member helps villagers increase income

Recently, Erfeng Village at the foot of Huilong Mountain welcomed the first batch of tourists after the Spring Festival holiday.
Zhao Chunmei, deputy to the National People’s Congress and the village secretary, said excitedly, “Thanks to Huilong Mountain, we have established branch farms and developed characteristic industries. Next, we will continue to guide villagers to develop the homestay inn industry, Phyllostachys pubescens (bamboo) and local specialties, and increase villagers’ income.”
As for such problems as tourism industry with no obvious ethnic characteristics and single cultural experience, Zhao Chunmei made efforts to highlight the Yao cultural characteristics in accordance with its local conditions.
Zhao Chunmei led local cadres to go out for investigation, and learn about the practices of rural tourism development in other ethnic villages.
After returning, she raised funds in various ways to build a 420-square-meter branch homestay inn with strong ethnic cultural characteristics, and planned to work together with 6 homestay inns of the village for group and scale development under corporate operation and management.
At the same time, this year, Zhao Chunmei plans to make use of idle resources to establish a national cultural heritage base for study tours to spread ethnic culture and promote national spirits.
Erfeng Village is rich in bamboo resources and boasts various agricultural and sideline products. However, good products do not sell at good prices without branding.
Zhao Chunmei was fully aware of the importance of brands, so she proposed the use of “Guyue Huilong” trademark for the village’s agricultural products, built the brand to create more benefits, and drive industrial development through brand effects.
Zhao Chunmei said that this year, she planned to adopt the joint-stock cooperation model to seek project funds, build Guyue Huilong tea brand, and increase the income of the village collective and villagers.
In August 2021, Hunan Huilong Drinking Water Company, with a registered capital of 30 million yuan, was introduced into the village. It mainly produces bottled and barreled purified water. The village takes a stake in the business with its brand "Guyue Huilong” to seek common development. It will increase its shares through capital injection for further cooperation in the later stage.
