In recent years, Tangdong Sub-district has implemented projects such as efficient water-saving irrigation, canal construction, and anti-seepage reinforcement of Shantang Reservoir in accordance with local conditions, improved the water conservancy infrastructure of the farmland in the planned area, established a 1,950-mu (130-hectare) core demonstration area for double cropping rice rotation, a 120-mu (8-hectare) core demonstration area for corn and soybean planting, a 2,000-mu (about 133-hectare) sorghum planting demonstration base, and a 3,000-mu (200-hectare) Hunan Lotus Seeds planting base, and scientifically developed five characteristic industries of fish, pigs, lotus, fruits, and vegetables to promote agricultural development and increase farmers’ income.
