"So far, 270,000 mu (18,000 hectares) of rapeseeds have basically been harvested in the county," said the head of Anren County's Agricultural and Rural Department on May 15. With the continuous improvement of agricultural mechanization rate and the continuously strengthened agricultural services, the county has achieved a significant increase in rapeseed production and income.

 

Anren County has accelerated the construction of agricultural machinery cooperatives and implemented the "six priority" incentive measures, namely priorities over arrangements for agriculture-related funds, recommendation of agriculture-related projects, coordination of land transfer in rural areas, organization for training of agricultural machinery operators, guarantee of land for sheds construction, and mortgage loans for large machinery and tools. Every year, special funds are invested in agricultural machinery cooperatives, giving a strong boost to agricultural social services. 

 

 

At present, there are 223 agricultural service cooperatives in the county. The county has been successively rated as the first demonstration county in China to basically realize full mechanization of major crop production, and one of the first batch of national innovative pilot counties for agricultural social services.

 

This year, the county’s rapeseed bumper harvest benefitted from the development of agricultural social services. The area of rapeseeds receiving such services in the county accounted for over 80 percent of the total. 

 

Cao Xunwu, a major grain farmer, has entrusted his 120 mu (8 hectares) of rapeseeds to a local agricultural service agency for management. Through scientific planting, the average yield will increase by more than 15 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares) compared to last year. Excluding service fees, it is expected to increase income by over 10,000 yuan this year compared to last year.

 

Agricultural social services promote the scientific and refined management of the whole process of planting and processing. The total production of rapeseeds this year in Anren is expected to increase by about 15 percent year on year.
