CCTV launches ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage in Hunan’

The shooting ceremony of “Intangible Cultural Heritage in China-Hunan”, a large-scale cultural program on CCTV, was launched in Chenzhou Changjuan Cultural and Tourism Area on June 2.

 

There are 137 national intangible cultural heritage items, and 410 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage items in Hunan. Besides, the UNESCO has inscribed Hunan’s nine items on the representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The program focuses on the intangible cultural heritage techniques and showcases the unique Hunan culture, enabling audiences to feel the changes of Hunan’s history as well as culture, and appreciate the inheritance, innovation as well as development of the intangible cultural heritage techniques in Hunan through Hunan Kunqu opera, bamboo paper making (Cai Lun’s papermaking techniques), Miao’s drum dance in Xiangxi, fireworks making in Liuyang, stilted buildings of Tujia ethnic minority and Dong brocade weaving.
 
The program presents the extraordinary skills as well as craftsmanship of intangible cultural heritage and the innovative development of intangible cultural heritage in the new era, where audience can enjoy the integration of intangible cultural heritage and other elements, such as historical heritage, craftsmanship spirit, eastern aesthetics and Chinese wisdom. So far, the number of audience has reached 579 million, and the cumulative reading volume of the related topics on Weibo has exceeded 1.68 billion.
