In recent years, Hunan Dongshan Yunwu Tea Industry Co., Ltd. has continued to strengthen independent innovation and develop new functions of tea to meet consumers’ different needs. Its independently researched and developed calcium-rich moringa leaf tea was much favoured by consumers once available on the market. This tea was recently included in the “Hunan’s recommended catalogue of 100 major new industrial products in 2022”.

 

In the tea art room of Hunan Dongshan Yunwu Tea Industry, Hu Wupin, an executive of the company, was making tea while introducing its characteristics.

 

 

Moringa leaf is a Chinese medicinal herb with high calcium content, which is more natural and easily absorbed compared to chemical calcium such as calcium tablets. In the process of independent research and development of the tea, the company has “filtered” off the spicy taste of the moringa leaves through innovative technique. Thus, the improved calcium tea is sweet with a hint of fresh aroma of beans. Last September, the sales of calcium-rich moringa leaf tea exceeded 20 million yuan in three months after being available on the market.

 

According to Hu Wupin, the tea is widely applicable and has a good effect on calcium supplementation for middle-aged and elderly people.

 

 

In 2022, the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province confirmed two batches of 272 provincial new industrial products. Among them, 100 products that are “highly technological and strongly competitive with good economic benefits and great brand effect” were included in the “Hunan’s recommended catalogue of 100 major new industrial products in 2022”, and Linwu’s calcium-rich moringa leaf tea is among them, which further enhanced the confidence of the enterprise for future development.

 

“We have also planted moringa trees this year. We intend to plant one thousand mu (about 66.67 hectares) of moringa trees in the next three years, which will drive more than one thousand local farmers to be employed, and the annual increase in their income can reach over six or seven thousand yuan,” said Hu Wupin.
