Heye Town was once known for coal mining. Coal mining was the pillar industry of Gaoshan Village, bringing wealth to the villagers but also causing environmental damage. In recent years, eco-friendly economy has become the main theme of development. Villager He Xiaoping recognized the favorable natural conditions and led the villagers to cultivate specialty fruits. Gaoshan Village’s unique natural conditions have become the key for farmers to increase their income.

He Feiyan explained, “Our planting base is located at an altitude of over 600 meters, with significant temperature differences between day and night. We also use our own fermented organic fertilizer. These contribute to the high sugar fruits. We have planted over 120 mu (8 hectares) crispy honey peaches with an expected output of 50,000 kilograms. We have both online and offline sales channels, and the peaches will be available for sale until September.”

In addition to honey peaches, the base also cultivates various kiwis such as soft jujubes, yellow heart and green heart. Over 250 mu (about 17 hectares) of kiwis will be ripe and available in September.

The coal town has transformed into a land of fruits. Currently, there are over 1,500 mu (100 hectares) of specialty agricultural products such as kiwi, crispy honey peaches, grapes, and tea in Heye Town, and job opportunities have been created for hundreds of villagers.
