The Chili Industry Demonstration Base is located in Xiaqing Village, extending to Xingcao Village and Gutang Village. Led by Huada Breeding Cooperative, the base adopts the model “company plus cooperative plus large growers plus farmers” and plants 1,200 mu (80 hectares) of chilies, with an investment of nearly 6 million yuan. 

 

 

At the same time, more than 10 mu (0.67 hectares) of experimental fields were opened up in collaboration with Hunan Agricultural University, with more than 20 experimental varieties of chili planted. This aims to cultivate new varieties of chili with higher quality, yield and adaptability through field screening.

 

Around July every year, chilies are gradually ripening for picking, which lasts for more than 5 months, with the total output value of 16 million yuan. During the peak season, more than 200 workers can be hired from the surrounding areas, which helps farmers to increase income by more than 10,000 yuan annually.
