In recent days, the 460,000 people have immersed themselves in a series of celebratory events of Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in Anren County, Chenzhou City.
The events include the opening ceremony of the 2023 Hunan-Anren Celebration of Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival, the inaugural Qingding animal clay sculpture competition, a fun-filled sports competition for farmers, agricultural products exhibition, automobile and real estate sales, the “Night of the Small Town” cultural carnival to celebrate the harvest.
During the opening ceremony, outstanding farmers, leading agricultural enterprises, and harmonious rural communities were honored with awards. Prizes were also presented to winners of the sports competition and the inaugural Qingding animal clay sculpture competition.
In recent years, Anren County has consistently focused on high-quality development and the comprehensive advancement of rural revitalization. The county’s agricultural brands, such as Anren rice and Anren citrus peels, have been granted national geographical indication trademarks.
Agricultural specialty brands like Xianghuang rice and Haofeng green tea have gained recognition both within and beyond the province. Anren County has cultivated and developed 230,000 mu (about 15,333 hectares) of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, with 120,000 mu (8,000 hectares) dedicated to citrus peels.
In 2023, the county raised 180 million yuan to construct 60,000 mu (4,000 hectares) of high-standard farmland, achieving a total grain planting area of 672,000 mu (44,800 hectares) for the year.
Anren County has received more than 30 honors, including a national advanced county in grain production, the sixth batch of national demonstration counties for comprehensive mechanization of major crop production, and a national pilot county for agricultural socialized service innovation.
