On October 31, the Wuxi Stele Forest Management Office and Xiangnan University held a signing ceremony to jointly establish the Wuxi Cliff Stone Carving Research Base. The two sides will work together to enhance the popularity of Wuxi Cliff Stone Carving in Hunan, China, and even the world, making it one of the most important cultural brands in Hunan.
At present, the Wuxi Stele Forest has over 500 cliff stone carvings since the Tang Dynasty, which are of great cultural and historical significance. It is the most representative cliff stone carving scenic spot in Hunan and even across Southern China, and also one of the most representative cultural and tourism brands.
Xiangnan University has been studying Yongzhou cliff carvings for nearly 20 years and has accumulated a large number of research results.
It will establish a research base for cliff carvings in Wuxi Stele Forest, conduct in-depth and systematic research on the stone carvings in Wuxi Stele Forest based on previous surveys, and publish a book series.
At the same time, it will assist the Wuxi Stele Forest Management Office in carrying out such related work on Wuxi cliff carvings as cultural design, exhibition design, collection protection, media creativity.
