The Start of Winter arrived at November 8. The vegetable base of Huashan Honglin Technology Ecology Co., Ltd. at Ximen Village, Yuxi Town, Yizhang County, Chenzhou City was a hive of activity, with farmers busy harvesting fresh vegetables.
In the vegetable greenhouse, villagers’ faces brimmed with the sheer joy of harvest. “We can pick about 500 kilograms of fresh vegetables per person every day, with radishes and sweet potatoes days before, red and white cabbage stalks at present, and cabbage and cauliflower a few days later,” said a villager, adding that villagers sometimes start work at three or four o’clock in the morning to ensure the freshness of vegetables during the peak harvest season.
In recent years, Ximen Village has introduced Yizhang Huashan Honglin Technology and Ecology Co., Ltd. and built greenhouses to plant organic vegetables. At present, the base has more than 100 vegetable greenhouses, with a planting area of over 60 mu (4 hectares). There are more than ten varieties such as brussels spouts, cabbage, and coriander. The annual output of fresh vegetables can reach over 80 tons, which will bring the annual output value of over 2 million yuan. Over 40 villagers living nearby have been offered jobs.
The products are sold well in Chenzhou and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through order-based production.
“This year, we have good returns. Next year, we will continue to expand vegetable planting area through land transfer, enrich vegetable varieties to improve land utilization and output rate, strengthen the management and protection of facility agriculture in fields, and help villagers increase income,” said Li Keshan, head of Yizhang Huashan Honglin Technology Ecology Co., Ltd.
