At the monk fruit planting base in Dahan Village, green fresh fruits are hung all over the branches, and fruit farmers are busy picking them. This year, it’s expected to yield 13 million fruits. The picked fresh fruits are immediately transported to a processing workshop 200 meters away. After cleaning, drying, and packaging, they are sent to a cold storage room. This can provide job opportunities for more than 20 villagers throughout the process.

 

Deng Shengwu, Party secretary of Dahan village said that villagers can receive one to two thousand yuan per month at home. Nowadays, most of them are elderly and women at home. While taking care of children, they can do the work if they have free time. 

 

Dahan Village began to plant monk fruit in Linwu County in 2017. The planting experience has been promoted in Nanqiang, Fenshi, Shunfeng and other places. 

 

Enterprises adopt the mode of “base plus company plus cooperative plus farmers” through unified planting, processing and technology. The largest monk fruit base that integrates planting, processing and sales in Chenzhou City has been built. 

 

In 2021, relying on the project of refrigeration and fresh-keeping facilities in the agricultural product producing areas of Linwu County, the local government has built 6 refrigerated warehouses with a total area of over 3,000 cubic meters, which can store up to 70 million monk fruits. The stored monk fruits can be kept fresh for at least two years. 

 

This year, affected by the external environment, the external purchase price of monk fruit dropped from 1.18 yuan per piece in previous years to 0.1 yuan per piece. To ensure the interests of farmers, the enterprises continue to purchase the fruit at a price of 0.3 yuan. At the same time, six refrigerated warehouses have been fully opened.
