In recent years, Guidong County has embarked on the path of “green development” through ecology, industry and service.

 

“In the past, we cut some bamboo for use, but most of bamboo was rotted in the mountains. Now, bamboo can be directly turned into money thanks to processing points,” said a worker, who was sorting Nanzhu bamboo at the processing point in Qingshan Township, Guidong County.

 

Guidong Zhongyi Bamboo and Wood Development Co., Ltd. has established 5 primary processing points for raw materials in the towns, and these processing points can provide 150,000 tons of primary products for the company every year and offer more than 500 job opportunities for the towns, with an annual cost of over 20 million yuan for bamboo, bamboo farmers’ wages, and transportation, enabling villagers living nearby to increase income.

 

 

As a national key ecological functional area, Guidong County has a forest coverage rate of 81.97%, with a total bamboo forest area of 150,000 mu (10,000 hectares).

 

There are over 1 million mu (about 66,666.67 hectares) of bamboo resources in neighboring counties and cities.

 

At the same time, Guidong County also has tea gardens of 149,000 mu (about 9,933.33 hectares) and traditional Chinese medicine of 240,000 mu (16,000 hectares), with an annual output of 18,000 and 24,000 tons respectively.
