At the pomelo planting base of Jinlan Organic Fruit Industry Development Co., Ltd. in Taihe Village, Wushui Town, Linwu County, golden pomelos of more than 2,000 mu (about 133.33 hectares) are ripe and farmers are busy picking, bagging and packaging pomelos.

Xia Ming, general manager of the company, said that the picking time for each variety of pomelos is different, and pomelos are available from August this year to April next year.

There are multiple varieties of pomelos cultivated in the base, including Thailand’s golden pomelos, red pomelos. Linwu pomelos, as a local specialty fruit, are deeply loved by consumers due to crispy and tender flesh, rich flavor, sour and sweet taste, and rich nutrition.

Good fruit cannot be cultivated without careful management. In order to grow Linwu pomelos well, pruning and fertilization are the key to the management process.

Taihe Village is suitable for the growth of Linwu pomelos, with flat terrain, constant temperature, sufficient sunlight, and yellow mud.

Pomelo cultivation began in the local area as early as 2006, but just on a small scale. In order to better develop the industry, in 2011, the village introduced Linwu County Jinlan Organic Fruit Industry Development Co., Ltd., and began large-scale pomelo cultivation by transferring 2,000 mu (about 133.33 hectares) of land.

This year, the base has planted more than 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) of Linwu pomelos, with an expected total output of 1.5 million kilograms.

In addition to wholesale and online sales, many citizens also come to experience the joy of picking pomelos in the base.

At present, the varieties that don’t sell well are being replaced by Linwu pomelos in the base. Linwu pomelos have brought a lot of profits to the base, driven the industry, and enriched the villagers, injecting new impetus into rural revitalization.

As of now, the base has provided jobs for more than 500 people in multiple towns such as Wushui, Shunfeng, and Huatang, with a per capita annual income increase of 8,000 yuan.
