Rucheng Baimao Tea is originally produced in the Jiulong River Secondary Forest and in the mountains and forests around Landong Village in Sanjiangkou Town, Rucheng County, Chenzhou City. It is the pride of Rucheng and also a treasure of Hunan. As a rare wild tea with large and hairy leaves in the country, it features its emerald green color and pleasant fragrance.

As early as the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was listed as a tribute. It has won honors such as the Hunan Famous Tea, the Gold Award of “Hunan Tea Cup”, and the highest gold award at the Paris International Famous, Excellent, and New Expo, and has entered domestic and foreign markets.

In 2016 and 2021, Rucheng Baimao Tea was certified as a national geographical indication certification trademark and a registered GI (geographical indication) agricultural product.

In recent years, Rucheng Baimao Tea has won the favor of many experts and scholars, such as Liu Zhonghua, an academician of CAE, and Yuan Longping, father of hybrid rice. The expert team led by Liu Zhonghua has even been stationed in Rucheng to help the high-quality development of the Rucheng Baimao Tea industry.

Based on the unique advantages of Rucheng Baimao Tea, the county government has established the Rucheng Baimao Tea Industry Development Coordination Command to build tea bases, create tea brands, and promote the prosperity of the tea economy.

The management office of Jiulong River Park has worked to take good care of the core area of wild Baimao Tea distributed in the forest land, improve 500 mu (about 33.33 hectares) of Baimao Tea planted previously, cultivate 500 mu (about 33.33 hectares) planted this winter, and expand the planting area of 500 mu (about 33.33 hectares).

All of these will drive the development of Baimao Tea in towns such as Sanjiangkou and Daping.
