Recently, with sunny days, red strawberries are hidden in green branches and leaves, making people mouth-watering in the strawberry planting base of Shigu Village, Tangdong Subdistrict, Zixing City, with an area of more than 30 mu (2 hectares).
“The strawberries here are big and tasty. We often come to pick strawberries with children, and we have a lot of fun,” said a citizen, who drove here from the urban area of Zixing.
Watching the citizens and tourists picking strawberries, Wang Liping, a strawberry farmer, was overjoyed. “Hongyan strawberries” planted in her base, are large and bright red with sweet taste. The first batch of strawberries were sold at a good price, and the ripe ones now are also popular among citizens.
In the strawberry base, workers are busy removing creeping stems and weeding leaves in more than 20 greenhouses.
In recent years, Tangdong Subdistrict has continued efforts to increase the development of characteristic agricultural industries based on good ecological environment and geographical advantages to create a suburban tourism model that integrates leisure, sightseeing, and picking. It has achieved industrial prosperity and increased farmers’ income through the development of industries such as strawberries, figs, mulberries, and cole flowers.
