The evaluation was initiated by Beijing Forestry University to comprehensively evaluate the quality and quantity of annual forest resources and the functions of forest ecosystems, the development of forestry industry, regional economic and social development, and green forestry governance in prefecture-level cities nationwide. 

 

In this evaluation, there are 5 two-level indicators and 46 three-level indicators, which can ensure the comprehensiveness of the evaluation indicator system. 

 

The basic data of 300 prefecture-level cities across the country have been collected through government statistical yearbooks, statistical bulletins, various special bulletins and public data on the governments’ official websites. After a series of evaluation, 20 cities stood out.  

 

These 20 cities are distributed in 10 provinces. Among them, Chenzhou ranks 16th. In recent years, the green development index of Chenzhou City has maintained at the forefront in the province. 

 

The sustainable development case of Zixing City was selected as one of the first batch of typical cases for “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”.

 

Rucheng County was awarded the national demonstration county for ecological civilization. Guiyang County and Guidong County won the title of a provincial demonstration county for ecological civilization.
