The cooperative, located in Zhuangmen Village of Suxian District, specializes in planting pollution-free and green lotus roots and vegetables. Its products have won the “Gold Award” at the 5th Agricultural Products Fair, and lotus roots and fresh lotus seeds have passed green food certification. It is an enterprise allowed to use the brand “Xiangjiangyuan” in Hunan Province and a production base for the “Vegetable Basket” project of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In 2023, the cooperative produced over 3,000 tons of lotus roots and 150 tons of lotus seeds, with a sales revenue of over 32 million yuan.

Since its establishment, the cooperative has driven the development of more than 9,800 mu (about 653.33 hectares) of lotus root cultivation in 11 counties and cities in Chenzhou and Shigu District in Hengyang City. It provides lotus root seedlings, technical support, and purchases back lotus roots after harvest. It has provided jobs for more than 1,800 people. At the same time, it has devoted itself to technological innovation and promotion and introduced excellent varieties to enable cooperative members and farmers to increase production and income.

Nowadays, lotus ponds are seen everywhere in Zhuangmen Village. When lotus flowers are in full bloom, the village will become part of the beautiful scenery in the Xihe Rural Revitalization Demonstration Zone, attracting numerous tourists.

“In the next 3 to 5 years, we will play a leading role in the pollution-free, green, and organic lotus root industry, making new contributions to adjusting the agricultural industry structure in Chenzhou City, developing modern agriculture, and increasing income for farmers,” said Li Hong.
