Villages in Rucheng County held the burning incense dragon dance performance during the Spring Festival to pray for favorable weather and peace and prosperity.
On the fourth day of the first lunar month, in Waisha Village, with the sound of firecrackers, villagers held torches and lit the incense dragon.
In no time, the 35-meter-long burning incense dragon appeared vividly. After a shout, more than 200 young and middle-aged men worked together to lift the incense dragon to worship their ancestors, and pray for a smooth and prosperous new year.
And then the performance team of the lifelike burning incense dragon paraded through the village alleys and fields, attracting many villagers and tourists.
Rucheng Burning Incense Dragon Dance is a national intangible cultural heritage item. The dragon body is made of straw and bamboo pieces, and the incense on the body is about one meter long.
For thousands of years, in the first lunar month every year, people carry out the burning incense dragon dance performance with expectations for peace and harvest. It demonstrates the folk culture of Rucheng County, adds a thick festive atmosphere to the Spring Festival, and fully shows the vision of Rucheng people for a better life.
Up to now, more than 40 villages in the county have carried out the burning incense dragon dance performance.
