“Now, we are stepping up production to fulfill orders. Today, we have produced over one ton of rice,” said Ouyang Wenbai, Party secretary of Fuxi Village.

 

Fuxi Village, once a provincial-level impoverished village, was lifted out of poverty in 2017. The annual income of the village collective economy was only 50,000 yuan in 2017, but by 2023 it had reached over 300,000 yuan. 

 

Fuxi Village has unique natural conditions, with selenium-rich soil, abundant paddy fields, making it a good place to plant selenium-rich rice. 

 

In recent years, Fuxi Village has actively explored ways to strengthen the village and enrich people. And finally it decided to plant selenium-rich rice according to local conditions. 

 

Fuxi Village regards economic cooperatives as an important way to achieve prosperity. Apart from bank loans, the village also applied for one million yuan of support funds from the city government, which solved the funding problem for developing selenium-rich rice. 

 

At the same time, it made the best of 160-mu (about 10.67 hectares) abandoned farmland, and transferred paddy fields of over 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) to major farmers to plant selenium-rich rice. 

 

Ouyang Wenbai said that with the support of the selenium-rich rice industry, the village’s collective economy is expected to achieve an income of over 400,000 yuan. Next, the village will work to strengthen the selenium-rich industry and drive rural revitalization through industries.
