Recently, in the 15-mu (1 hectare) “vegetable-morel mushroom” rotation base in Banwu Village, Xujiadong Town, Suxian District, Chenzhou City, the first batch of morel mushrooms have entered the harvesting period.

In the Xinwang Agricultural Planting and Development Cooperation Base in Banwu Village, the morel mushrooms are like small umbrellas covering the ground and villagers are busy harvesting them.
“This year, due to the weather, morel mushrooms are harvested one month later than that last year, but it doesn’t affect orders and sales. Last year’s customers placed orders early, and many citizens come to purchase them in the base every day,” said Zeng Lingxing, head of the base.
Morel mushrooms are generally planted in autumn and winter, and harvested in winter and spring.
It’s expected to yield 3,500 kilograms in the base this year, with an annual output value of 700,000 yuan.
After the harvesting of morel mushrooms, fruits and vegetables will be planted.
In 2022, in Suxian District’s effort to promote the construction of the Xihe Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt, Xujiadong Town introduced the cultivation of morel mushrooms through investment attraction and established the Xinwang Agricultural Planting and Development Cooperative. The cooperative provided jobs for 20 people in the village and increased the annual income of the village collective by about 20,000 yuan.
