During Grain Rain, in Rongjiadong Forest Farm, more than ten villagers were busy planting Lingzhi mushroom (glossy ganoderma) under the careful guidance of the staff from the Yongxie Planting Professional Cooperative in Yizhang County.
The Yongxie Planting Professional Cooperative plants lingzhi mushrooms on log segments with local wild bacterial strains. They are planted in April with spores collected in July and lingzhi harvested in September.
This year, Yizhang County plans to plant over 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares) of lingzhi mushrooms in batches in the forest with a simulated wild environment.
“Due to the rugged terrain inside the mountain, it takes more than half an hour to climb the mountain, so I can’t go back for a rest at noon. I can only plant 500 mushrooms at most a day and have a daily income of 150 or 160 yuan,” said a villager from Shenggongtan Village, Bali Town, Yizhang County.
The Rongjiadong Forest Farm, with a beautiful ecological environment, provides a good natural growth environment for the cultivation of lingzhi mushrooms, which will be more ecological and greener, and have more nutritional and medicinal value.
The forest farm is adjacent to the Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area. Relying on its rich forestry resources, the cooperative will take active measures to integrate into the tourism economic circle of Mangshan Mountain, tap into the understory economy, and explore a new model of characteristic industry development of “cooperative plus base plus farmers”.
“Establishing a demonstration base in the forest area, the cooperative provides lingzhi mushroom strains, planting techniques, and centralized purchases for products. Making use of idle mountain and forest resources, farmers can participate in the cultivation, harvesting, and management of lingzhi mushrooms to achieve common prosperity,” said Huang Fenglan, chairman of the cooperative, adding that the cooperative will continue to develop the characteristic industry through idle forest resources to promote employment.
