There are more than 120 mu (8 hectares) of muskmelons in Zhuli Village. Muskmelons require extremely high soil quality. The unique purple sand soil in Zhuli Village has good hydrophobicity and rich trace elements. In addition, the melons are in rotation every three years, so the current yield of muskmelons per mu (about 0.067 hectares) is over 1,500 kilograms. The juicy, sweet and crisp muskmelons are greatly popular.

“I have been planting muskmelons for more than ten years. Now I reap a bumper harvest, and the largest one weighs one and a half catties. My muskmelons are in short supply and available for sale in early June. Sweet muskmelons make our life happier,” said a villager, who has planted 16 mu (about 1.07 hectares) of muskmelons.

Zhuli Village has a long history of cultivating muskmelons, which have become well-known far and wide after more than 20 years of improvement. In early June, they had been all purchased by local supermarket suppliers.

The muskmelons per mu (about 0.067 hectares) can bring an earning of 10,000 yuan, and they can increase the income of villagers by more than 1 million yuan per year.
