Liu Huanhua wins men’s 102kg gold

Liu Huanhua won the gold medal with a snatch of 186kg, clean and jerk of 220kg, and a total of 406kg in the men's weightlifting 102kg category at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on August 10.

Liu Huanhua, a Chinese male weightlifter, was born in Xingxi Village of Jinping Town, Jiahe County, Chenzhou City in August 2001. He joined the weightlifting team of Jiahe County No.5 Middle School in June 2013 and was selected for training at Hunan Provincial Sports School in September 2013.
 
In 2018, he was admitted to the Tianjin University of Sport. He won gold medals in the clean and jerk and total weight of men’s 102kg category at the 2023 World Championships, the total weight of the men’s 109kg category at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, where he also set a new world record at his category. In May 2024, he was selected as a member of the Chinese weightlifting team for the Paris Olympics.
