In Pingshang Village, which was once honored as the “Hometown of Edible Fungi in China”, edible fungi were always grown in traditional wooden and steel frame greenhouses, and the industrial scale was restricted by weather and environment.

To solve this problem, the rural revitalization working team that settled in the village in May 2023, together with the village committee, has made efforts to seek solutions, raise funds for enterprises, and strengthen infrastructure construction, and finally provided a good solution for the industrial development of Pingshang Village.

As of now, the first phase of the Hunan Rongtong Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.’s Production Base project, with an expected total investment of 30 million yuan, has been put into operation. It has built one fully automatic mushroom packaging production line, three mycelium cultivation rooms, five intelligent mushroom extraction rooms, and three cold storage rooms.

With the completion of the second phase of the project, it is expected to produce more than 1,800 tons of edible mushrooms annually, with an output value of nearly 20 million yuan. It will provide more than 100 local villagers with jobs every year and increase the income of the village collective economy by 150,000 yuan.

“Through the integration of high technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the planting no longer relies on the weather. Due to technology, hardware facilities and the industrial chain have been improved, injecting new vitality into rural revitalization,” said Xiong Tianshu, first secretary of the village.
