In recent years, Yizhang Huashan Honglin Technology Ecological Park has planted over 50 mu (about 3.33 hectares) of high-quality crispy and sweet kumquats through technical innovation, which has brought new economic growth points to the ecological park and set a new benchmark for the modernization of local agriculture.
Workers were busy carrying out daily management work such as weeding in the kumquat planting base of the park. The kumquats are highly favored by consumers due to their thin skin, thick flesh, and sweet taste, with a market price of up to 80 yuan per kilogram.
The park is a modern agricultural demonstration base that integrates agricultural planting and catering services. Faced with the aging of fruit trees in the park and the decline in market competitiveness of traditional varieties, the head of the base has gradually phased out some fruit varieties with backward production capacity since 2020 and introduced the high-quality crispy and sweet kumquats for trial planting.
Through continuous experimentation, the base has overcome a series of key technical challenges such as flower and fruit protection as well as disease and pest control, ensuring the high quality and yield of crispy and sweet kumquats.
Li Keshan, the head of the park, said that next, the park will improve cultivation techniques, enhance fruit quality, expand planting areas, and strengthen marketing to turn crispy and sweet kumquats into a gold-lettered signboard of the base.
