At the site, seven teams composed of farmers from villages such as Xinqiao, Xinkeng, and Zhongxin in Zhaiqian Town competed in reaping rice, pushing the event to a climax.

 

 

In recent years, Guidong County has always adhered to the development concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, strengthened ecological agriculture, and extended the industrial chain.

 

The county has built a high-standard farmland demonstration base of 3,000 mu (200 hectares), and planted over 60,000 mu (4,000 hectares) of cold water rice, with a yield of 27.5 million kilograms, driving an average annual income increase of over 2,000 yuan for more than 12,000 households.

 

 

“The county has established a Cold Water Rice Industry Association to assist large growers in improving the standardization and technological level of cold water rice cultivation,” said an official of Zhaiqian Town.

 

In recent years, the county has focused on characteristic agricultural industries, and promoted green and organic development models to help the sales of Guidong high-altitude cold water rice.

 

Zhaiqian Town will enhance the reputation of characteristic agricultural brands such as high-altitude cold water rice and vegetables, optimize the living environment, and enhance the confidence of farmers in the integrated development of agriculture and tourism.
