In order to ensure a bumper harvest of late rice, the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Linwu County has recently launched “one spray, multiple effects” drone spraying operation for late rice, providing technical support and services free of charge for large grain growers in 11 late rice production areas in the county.
In the fields of Nanqiang Town and Xiyao Township, grain growers were busy preparing pesticides, which would be used to kill insects, prevent disease, fertilize crops and other work on late rice through plant protection drones.
Lei Zhibing, a major grain grower in Xiyao Township, has planted over 600 mu (40 hectares) of late rice this year. In previous years, it took one month to spray pesticide on these rice fields. Now, with the help of two crop protection drones, it only takes four hours to complete the spraying work.
“In previous years, we spent over 10,000 yuan buying pesticides and hiring laborers to spray pesticide. This year, due to drones, the cost of laborers and pesticides can be saved by more than half,” said Lei Zhibing.
“One spray, multiple effects” refers to the mixed spraying of foliar fertilizer, regulators, stress resistance agents, insecticides, fungicides, etc. in the middle and later stages of rice growth, which can achieve multiple effects such as promoting growth, grain maturity, recovery after disaster, and yield. It is a key measure for disaster prevention and yield increase. It can effectively cope with the impact of natural disasters on agricultural production and significantly improve grain yield, bringing benefits to large grain growers.
Pan Guangxiong, deputy head of Xiyao Township, said that there are 3,450 mu (230 hectares) of late rice in the township this year. The policy of “one spray, multiple effects” can reduce planting costs by more than 120,000 yuan for large grain growers, enhancing their enthusiasm for grain cultivation.
In order to comprehensively promote the project “one spray, multiple effects”, the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Linwu County has deployed 10 plant protection drones with the investment of 510,000 yuan this year to provide free drone spraying services for 11 late rice production areas in the county. As of now, all operational tasks in late rice production areas have been fully completed.
