Farmers are busy selecting, grading and packaging pomelos in the Linwu pomelo plantation of Puxia village, Huatang township, Linwu county, preparing to sell them to other places of the country.
Outside the warehouse, Tan Jun and his team are filming a short video in the orchard to promote Linwu pomelo.
October is the harvest season of various fruits. With the rapid development of e-commerce platforms, many fruit farmers have also used e-commerce platforms to expand their sales channels for Linwu agricultural products.
“Since 2023, the combination of online and offline sales has worked well. This year, we will continue to promote agricultural products through short videos on Douyin. Many customers from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Changsha also came to purchase products. Now, we can sell 10,000 to 15,000 kg daily.” Tan Jun is a fruit farmer and merchant.
During the peak season of pomelo sales, he is responsible for quality control, shooting and promotion of short videos. Through online promotion and offline sales, 80,000 kg of pomelos have been sold so far.
Linwu pomelo is a local agricultural specialty product, which is deeply loved by local consumers for its juicy and sweet taste. With the rise of e-commerce, Linwu pomelo has gained more popularity.
To further expand the sales channels of agricultural products, the county government built an e-commerce incubation platform, encouraging farmers to sell their products via live streaming.
At the same time, it also makes the best of its distribution or express delivery companies, and other sales channels such as wholesale markets, large supermarkets, and specialty stores to jointly help Linwu’s agricultural specialty products go out of Linwu county.
“We have received nearly one million visits over the past two months, which has also attracted a lot of attention to Linwu and Linwu pomelo. Next, we will mobilize more people like Tan Jun to create more agricultural product accounts to gain more attention and let more people know about Linwu pomelo,” said Kuang Longjun, chairman of Linwu County E-commerce Association.
